about
Graham Costello with his band STRATA continues to bridge the gap between his debut album ‘Obelisk’, and his forthcoming album with Gearbox via an epic, polyrhythmic masterpiece titled 'Lyra'.
With the band reduced to quartet, they become a hard-hitting, rhythm section machine. Hypnotising piano patterns roll seamlessly into Reichian guitar loops, and yet the whole track grooves, with the bass providing pulsating sub-octave lines that require a good pair of headphones to truly appreciate.
Together, the musicians weave a narrative influenced by post-rock, jazz, and minimalism, continuously evolving in intensity before attaining its cathartic peak.

Beautiful album inside out from concept to execution. Yazz blends styles and influences effortlessly and produces something that represents everything good about the UK Jazz scene right now.
Seems like Gondwana Records is the spot for awesome jazz bands - really beautiful played and sweet harmonies and melodies. Floating and rich rhythms. Really diggin' it! Think anything reminds me of Dave Brubeck 'Take 5' StrangeFlow
